WHO DO YOU THINK GOD IS?

How do you view God? WHO IS GOD?

You may honestly think of God as a big bad judge waiting to curse you and beat you.

You likely blame God for not ‘being there’ when you were being wounded.

You may find it difficult to believe that the God of this universe could possibly love with a love that transcends all understanding. But He does!

Jesus, God’s own Son, was beaten and bruised for your sin and the sin of every person that hurt you.

His love was demonstrated that while we were yet sinners He died for us.

While you may not understand how or why God loves you, will you at least consider it for a moment.

The key to your recovery is to come to the understanding of God’s love for you.

Once you achieve that, you will have a new perspective on your past.

All things will become new and the old will seem to fade away.

WHY DOES GOD GIVE YOU HOPE?

Why is there hope? (because of God’s Love)

Hope is available because of God’s unconditional love.

While it is likely you don’t feel loved, the truth is that God loves you more than you want to be loved.

No matter who you are, what you have done, or what has been done to you: God’s love is greater still.

There is nothing you can say or do that will change the fact that God loves you.

Remember He created you, knows everything you have said, thought, or done, and knows what you will say, think, or do now and forever.

Can you imagine being loved with the total unconditional love, not because of who you are or what you do, but simply because you are?

It is that unconditional love that transcends your painfulness, your past sin, your past mistakes.

Perspective is everything. What you perceive is your reality.

Thus, a key point in recovery is to ask God to divinely change your perspective and your perception.

Before you move to the lesson on Who Is God?, how about saying a short prayer to Him thanking Him for His love.

Who is Jehovah Rapha?

Jehovah-Rapha -The Lord That Healeth Thee
Exodus 15:25-26

After God graciously delivered the children of Israel across the Red Sea, miraculously opening a path for them in the sea, and drowned Pharaoh and the armies of Egypt in the depths of the sea, he brought Israel into the wilderness of Shur, where for three days they wandered without water.

The scorching sun beat down upon them. The desert sands scalded their feet.

Their cattle were perishing. Their children’s tongues were swollen. And their lips were parched.

Then, at last, they came to the plentiful fountains of Marah.

When they saw the waters of Marah, how their hearts must have rejoiced in hope and expectation.

As they approached Marah, they could almost taste the water.

They could almost feel the cool, refreshing water in their mouths.

But when they got there, the waters were bitter. They could not drink the water. Can you imagine the frustration and disappointment they must have felt?

Immediately, they turned upon Moses and began to murmur and complain.

Actually, they turned upon the Lord God who had brought them to this place.

Though the Lord led them by the fiery and cloudy pillar, though he was with them, though he miraculously and graciously delivered them from the bondage of Egypt and promised to do them good, they did not trust him.

All they could see, all they could think about were the bitter waters before them and the thirst within them.

Because they saw nothing good in God’s providence, they despised it.

But God, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not.

For he remembered that they were but flesh.
(Ps. 78:38-39).

It was God who brought Israel to Marah. He brought them here to teach them and to make himself known to them, and to teach us and make himself known to us (I Cor. 10:11) as Jehovah-Rapha – the Lord that healeth thee(Ex. 15:25-26).

Because you are seeking to heal from your hurtful life experiences, there is only one healer only one true healing: that which comes from a right relationship with your Creator, God, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. You need the healing of Jehovah-Rapha!

God of the Bible is an awesome God, unlike any man-made god. He is alive as an Eternal Spirit, Omnipresent Spirit, Omniscient Spirit, and Omnipotent Spirit.

Those theological words mean God is everywhere, all-knowing and all-powerful. All caring.

The good news is that He LOVES YOU. Yes, you! How does He, connect with us mere created humans?

Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, sent to earth to bring an end to sin, after being brutally crucified on a cross, after raising from the grave three days later, told His disciples these words: ‘It is good I go away….’

Because the day is coming when HE, Jesus will return. Prior to that return spoken of in Revelation 16, something exciting occurs in Revelation 7.

The angels are sent to the four corners of the earth and commanded to gather from every nation, every tribe, every tongue on earth: those who have been bought by the Blood of Jesus Christ!
