HOW HAS MY PAST EATEN AWAY AT MY LIFE?

HOW HAS MY PAST EATEN AWAY AT MY LIFE!

Things you fear you can't tell or people won't love you! Are you ready!

HOW HAS YOUR LIFE BEEN NEGATIVELY IMPACTED BY YOUR SIN?

Many men suffer from addictions to alcohol or drugs.

Typically an alcoholic will say that ‘I don’t have a drinking problem,’ when his problem is evident to everyone.

I remember, as a young man, I smoked cigarettes during college. When I went to work, I tried on several occasions to stop.

However, I kept a secret pack of cigarettes in my briefcase for those times when no one was looking.

Of course, I would tell everyone else they needed to quit smoking.

Well, my cover was blown wide open one day when my briefcase spilled open, throwing my cigarettes all over the floor.

The other guys in the shop cracked up with laughter.

When we cover something we are ashamed of in an effort to hide it, we don’t realize that the day will come when it will be exposed.

God is all knowing and omnipresent which means He knows every sin that you have done and sinful thought that you have thought.

There is no briefcase capable of hiding the reality of your life scars and mistakes from God.

When we cover our sin, we become defensive, paranoid, even frightened that someone is going to find out.

We fear our parents, our spouses, our children, and our co-workers. We fear that our reputation will be ruined if people learn what our lives are really like.

This sense of hiding is like the actor who wears a smiling mask to hide his frown. We all wear masks to hide our real feelings.

In fact, when you meet someone, often they say: How are you doing? In most cases we answer I’m fine.

But we really are not fine. The truth is that if they knew what you struggled with on the inside, they wouldn’t like you any more.

The acrostic for “fine: looks like this:

F-alse
I-nformation to hide
N-egative
E-motions

The truth is we are not fine. In fact, if you really knew me you would not accept me.

Just like, if I really knew you, I would not accept you. But, through Jesus, we can be real and bring our junk to HIM. When we do, we discover all that junk is gone!

Don’t be satisfied to stay addicted to your lust and your habits and hangups.

Decide right here and now you are going to beat this thing.

You are going to get it done. The goal line is in sight and nothing is going to make me not cross that finish line.
