Chapter 3 Getting to the Root
Digging up – Rooting out
What does digging up or rooting out mean in relationship to self-inventory or self-confrontation?
It does mean that you are going to validate that you have either been hurt by the sin of someone else or you have sinned.
Examining yourself-means getting real with yourself about what has happened in your life.
Examining yourself-means to take the roadmap you will create using MY LIFELINE, MY IDOLS, MY YOKES OF SIN, MY CHAINS OF BONDAGE, MY SAD FACE, MY OFFENDERS, montages, pictures or journaling, and going beneath the surface of each problem.
It means letting God have permission to search your heart, even the innermost place and bring to the surface anything that is not of Him.
Only when you allow the garbage of your life to come to the surface will you be able to start the restoration journey.
The prayer you are encouraged to use throughout this course is taken from Psalm 51:10-11 Psalm 139:23-24:
Psalm 51:10-11: Create in me a clean heart O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Psalm 139:23-24: Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties. And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
