Finding the Root of the Problem

Personal emotional/spiritual recovery starts with the Lord Jesus Christ finding you and lifting you out of your pit of sin and shame.

It begins with you giving up and patiently waiting upon the Lord to find you.

Even when it seems like God is distant, the promises of the Word are that God is near to the broken-hearted.

A personal note from Pastor Ken: When this author was lost in sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll in my youth, I ran directly away from God for almost 12 years of my life.

For all those years of depression, guilt, shame, and loss of my youth to drugs, my mother had been unceasingly praying for me.

Two Angels, appearing to be two young 12 year old maidens, found me in a lost and desperate state in 1972.

They ministered new life to me in these brief words spoken to me in love, at a time I really wanted to be high on drugs.

These were words that at that time I didn’t want to believe: ‘Jesus loves you more than you want to be loved … more than you know how to be loved.’

Oh I fought that message from God for almost two years. But then I discovered that I could not run away from God.

To my benefit, God found me even when I was running away from Him. Dear one, He will find you, too, if He hasn’t already!

How can I find it? Read Psalm 40:1-3: 1.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the Lord, And He inclined to me, and heard my cry. 2. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. 3. He has put a new song in my mouth. Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.

The Lord wants to give you a new song. He wants to pull you out of the miry clay. He wants to place you on a solid rock even more than you want to be healed. No matter what you are feeling, pray that prayer and never give in to your fear. Never give up.
